Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about Spoome and the sports CV.
Spoome in brief
What is Spoome?
The professional network for sport, every sport. You build your sports CV and send it to whoever needs to read it.
How much does it cost?
Nothing: Spoome is free. If paid features ever arrive, they’ll have their own terms and won’t take away anything you use today.
Which sports are covered?
All of them: 107 disciplines, including Paralympic sports. Each sport has its own measures on the CV: appearances and minutes, times, scores, grades.
Who can join?
Anyone aged 18 or over who lives and breathes sport: athletes, coaches and staff, sports journalists.
What is the Mixed Zone?
Questions and answers between sports people, by sport and topic. Athletes, coaches and officials who’ve been there answer; the most helpful answer rises to the top.
Who can see my calendar?
Every plan starts private. If you make it public, your network sees time and place, other members only the day and city. Training always stays yours.
Can I see my calendar on my phone?
Yes. In “Calendar”, tap “Create the link” and add it to Google Calendar or Apple Calendar: it updates on its own. You only see it once, so copy it straight away. Anyone with the link sees your calendar, private plans included: if you need to, turn it off or create a new one. You can also import an .ics file from another calendar: first you see what goes in, then you confirm. Everything comes in as private.
What happens the day after a race or match?
From 9 am we ask you “How did it go?”, in your notifications and on your phone. It works for matches, tournaments, trials, camps and courses in your calendar. Write how it ended, the result or placing and a few lines; add a photo if you like. Only you see your diary, unless you show it on the event. In sports with races it asks for placing and time, and “Add to races” opens the race already filled in. In other sports a match adds an appearance to your season, and a result becomes an achievement you can edit. After a course you update the qualification. Nothing goes on your CV by itself: you confirm it.
What are events?
Matches, tournaments, trials, camps and courses, for every kind of profile. You’ll find them in “Calendar” › “Events”, with the switch at the top. Pick “Near you”, “This weekend”, “Your network” or “Everywhere”. First you check if it’s already there, then you tap “I’m going too”. On Fridays we tell you about the ones nearby: turn it off in Settings. Only members can see them.
What is a recommendation?
A few lines someone in your Network writes about you: a teammate, a coach, a colleague. We let you know, and you’ll find it in “Edit profile” › “Recommendations received”. It only goes live when you tap “Publish”: then it shows on your profile. The CV you send as a link or PDF doesn’t include it. You can hide it whenever you like, from the same place.
Why do I see a waiting list page?
We’re opening Spoome in small groups. Leave your email and we’ll write when it’s your turn. Every friend who signs up with your link and opens their page from our email moves you up 10 places.
Athletes
What is the sports CV?
Your career on one page: your steps at each club, your seasons with the numbers, your achievements and qualifications.
Who checks what’s in my CV?
You write it, and you answer for it: Spoome doesn’t confirm the lines of your CV. Write only what’s true. Anyone who gets the link to your CV can ask you for details in a message.
How long does it take?
A few minutes. We guide you step by step: who you are in sport, then your latest club and one season, or your latest race. You add the rest whenever you like.
How do I send it to a club or an agent?
From “Your sports CV”, tap “Send your sports CV”. You create a link and send it on WhatsApp or copy it. Whoever opens it doesn’t need to sign up. We let you know the first time it’s opened.
Does the CV link expire?
Yes, after 90 days. You can keep up to 10 active and switch any of them off earlier. Whoever opens the link always sees the up-to-date CV.
Can I download it as a PDF?
Yes. In “Your sports CV”, tap “Download PDF”: it’s an A4 page ready to send. You choose whether to add your email and phone number.
What is the Sport ID?
The page with your CV and your links, for your Instagram bio and Stories. Choose the style, Classic or Trading card, the colour and the background. In “Visits and clicks” each person counts as one visit a day, with no name; on Sundays you get the week’s summary.
Who can see my profile?
At first your profile is “Members only”: your CV and full profile are seen only by people on Spoome. Your Sport ID (name, photo, role, sport and links) is seen by anyone who has its address. From “Edit profile” you can make your profile public or private whenever you like. Until you confirm your email, nobody sees it. The CV you send with a link is only seen by people who have that link.
Can I have more than one role, say athlete and coach?
Yes. The CV splits into chapters, one per role, and you choose which to show first. Changing your main role deletes nothing.
I do an individual sport: where do my races go?
In the “Races” block of your CV: circuit, placing, time or score. Podiums and titles add up on their own.
Someone put me in a race crew: what do I do?
You get a notification with the race. Tap “That’s me”: your name links to your profile and, if you like, the race goes on your CV too. Tap “Not me”: your name and tag disappear. Only people who can already open your profile see the link to it. If your profile is private, anyone who can’t open it reads “Spoome user”.
What does “Available” mean?
That you’re looking for a team or a role. You switch it on from “Edit profile” and it lasts 90 days.
Professionals and journalists
I’m a coach or a trainer: what goes on my CV?
Your steps at clubs as staff and your qualifications: licences, courses, certificates, with the issuing body and expiry date.
I’m a sports journalist: what’s Spoome for?
Your journalist CV, with outlets, roles and press card (Ordine dei giornalisti or USSI). And you follow athletes and coaches and their careers.
Why does it say “Professional register entry not stated” next to my role?
Some professions require registration. Add yours under Qualifications with its number, and the notice goes away.
Will you tell me when a qualification expires?
Yes, if you’ve added its expiry date. We write to you 60 and 15 days before, by email and on your phone if notifications are on. Turn them off from the email or in Settings, under “CV reminders”.
Account and privacy
Can I sign in with Google?
Yes, with “Continue with Google”. If you like, you can also set a password from “Settings”.
How do I change my email or password?
From “Settings” in the menu with your name. The new email takes effect once you open the link we send you.
Can I use Spoome like an app?
Yes: from the menu with your name, tap “Install the web app”. In “Settings”, turn on notifications on your phone.
Can I message anyone?
You can message people you’re connected with, or anyone who wrote to you first. Anyone with the link to your CV can send you a first message: then it’s up to you to reply. That way messages stay between people who know each other.
Can I comment on a post?
Yes, below the post: text only, up to 250 characters. Only members can read comments. A comment can be removed by the person who wrote it or by the post’s author. To report one, tap “Report” below the comment.
What are Caps?
Points you earn for useful actions: completing your CV, inviting a friend, helping in the Mixed Zone. There, you earn them when your answer gets “Helpful” or “Solved it”, and when three people answer your question. Caps take you up the levels, from Rookie to GOAT.
Who is @spoome?
The official account: Spoome news and questions for the Mixed Zone. You already follow it.
How do I report something?
From the content’s “…” menu; below a comment there’s a “Report” link. Or from “Report content” at the bottom of the pages and in Support. We look at it and tell you the outcome.
What does “Identity verified” mean?
That we checked one of your documents: the profile really belongs to you. It doesn’t confirm the lines of your CV, which you write and are responsible for. To ask for it, choose “Verified identity” in Support and upload the document.
How do I delete my account?
From “Menu with your name” › “Settings” › “Delete account”. It’s permanent: your profile, CV, content and conversations disappear straight away, even for the people who wrote to you. What stays, and for how long, is in the table in the privacy notice.
